One of the core principals of CSG is Social Value and to that point my blog today focuses on a key theme within social value recycling.
Global Recycling Day this year is on the 18th March. This day was first created in 2018 by the Global Recycling Foundation. The day helps to highlight, recognise, and celebrate the importance that recycling plays in preserving the earths precious primary resources and securing the future of our planet whilst also reducing CO2 emissions.
Through education and communication, they aim to raise awareness about the connection between recycling, pollution, and environmental health.
I myself try and recycle as much as I can within my home life but I wanted to concentrate on how the KCS Group is committed to reducing its environmental impact through its recycling targets.
So by me highlighting and communicating some of the great work that KCS & Procurement Services undertakes shows how we support this vital topic.
KCS segregates its waste into different groups to optimise the amounts that can be recycled. In the past year KCS has recycled 85% of its waste produced within the distribution centre.
Some key numbers:
- 30 tonnes of cardboard recycled,
- 15 tonnes of plastic recycled,
- 19 tonnes of metal recycled,
- 96 tonnes of wood recycled,
- XXX number of pallets sent back to suppliers to be re-used.
- Too many to count printer cartridges recycled.
KCS also offers to its customers a vast array of fully recycled created products some examples being:
Procurement Services offers a comprehensive and innovative waste management framework. This framework offers solutions that proactively assist its users to reduce the quantities of waste sent to landfills and achieve recycling targets.
Even the building gets involved in supporting with recycling as its fitted with a rain water harvesting system that re-uses rain water to flush the toilets within the building.
As a business KCS and Procurement Services recycle as much as possible and good waste management is a critical part of any solution. By ensuring best practices, redirecting, and minimising waste can not only support the environment but also reduces operational costs. All of us play a key role in supporting this important topic so one I would like to thank you all for your support on this but also ask anytime that you go to place rubbish into a bin that you ensure that its goes into the correct one allowing as much waste as possible to be recycled.
